Cemetery of Burg

Berliner Chaussee 139a, 39288 Burg

The cemetery was constructed between 1948 and 1950 after World War 2. It is designed according to the plans of the landscape architect Hans Schmidt. It is worth visiting the cemetery because you can find the graves of several famous people. Carl von Clausewitz, who was born in 1780 in Burg, is buried under a tomb slab decorated with a neo-Gothic stone cross. Two memorials remind us of the victims of fascism and the famous author and pedagogue Otto Bernhard Wendler, who also used the name Peter Dross as a pen name, also rests in this cemetery.
